About Us

About

At Wades Cat Trees we build the best designed , best constructed and aesthetically pleasing cat trees and cat scratchers. I started making cat trees as a hobby for family and friends, started doing craft shows , then cat shows and was then approached about distribution. That was 25 years ago. Now our cat trees and cat scratchers are sold in independently owned pet stores and small pet store chains from Virginia to Maine. We have developed product name recognition with our presence in stores in our distribution area and by building a consistently quality cat tree and scratcher. Keeping in mind the idea of enhancing the relationship between cats and their humans.

Design

All of our cat trees and scratchers are designed to be stable , sturdy and to make it possible for cats to get up and down with ease. And our trees don’t Weeble wobble even when the biggest cat takes a 30 foot running start at them.
Our models use a variety of components to meet the preference of any cat.

Whether it’s a condo, tunnel ,bed or perch, there is a design that will meet your cats needs. All of our larger cat trees have at least one post with 28 inches of sisal attached to a post so that your cat will be stretching up at least 30 inches to scratch.

Our scratchers come in a variety of sizes and shapes that will entice your cat to make it their go to for scratching. Stable and sturdy, they won’t move or teeter when your cat scratches on them There are models for vertical and horizontal scratching and some also have a hiding feature.

Our Guarentee

We guarentee that our cat trees and scratchers construction will last for at least 10 years. Our model C1B3 we have at home for our 2-3 cats over time is 15 years old and still going strong. Unfortunately the guarentee doesn’t cover the carpet or sisal.

Materials

Wood- We use only OSB board for all horizontal parts.

Carpet- We use the same carpet that anyone would install in your home. We use mostly neutral colored earth tone colors. But over the last few years more and more carpet comes in a combination of several neutral colors. Also grays are very popular right now, so we are getting a lot of it as well. We do get some other colors and can always ask our carpet suppliers if they have a particular color. Usually we can accommodate these requests , but it may cost a little more.

Sisal- Sisal is made of a combination of plant fibers used to make a variety of products. We use sisal carpet . Sisal carpet is the plant fiber woven into a carpeting mat. It is very durable and allows us to cover curved surfaces like our scratching pads with a material that stands up to your cats ripping and tearing. It has a bumpy texture that massages cats paw pads when they scratch making it very attractive to them.

Components- We use paperboard cores for all our posts, condos, beds and tunnels. The cores are all different diameters that allow us to make components that will fit all your cats needs.

Recycling and sustainabilty

Except for the wood, everything we use to make our cat trees and scratchers is being repurposed. The carpet we use are remnants , meaning it’s the last 6-10 feet of a larger roll of carpet. Its too small to use for much of anything with so it usually gets thrown into a land fill. But we make cat trees with it.

The paperboard tubes are the center of very large rolls of paper used to make a variety of the paper products we use everyday. When the paper is all rolled off , the core is left. That’s when we get them to use for the variety of components we use. Think of a very large roll of toilet paper when its empty.

We use particle board plugs in the ends of the posts to then be able to attach components to to the tops of posts and the bottom to bases. These particle board plugs are all recycled and getting a second use to make cat trees.

All of our scrap wood, carpet and paperboard goes to recycling facilties.
